One, recovering from near deadly injuries; the other, unaware of what he’s been missing in his life. What one man can do, may heal them both. Charlie Baker is recovering, slowly. Nearly dying tends to make a man reflect on each day. Take into account that his injuries were caused by a premeditated murder attempt, and he certainly isn’t looking for a lover. He is barely welcoming to a friend unable to trust anyone, preferring to hide from the world hours and miles away from the memories. Gregory Anders hadn’t intended to disturb the man in silent contemplation on the beach, but when his pup, Samson, takes matters out of his hands, he’s forced to at least apologize for his pet’s behavior. There’s no doubt for Gregory that Charlie could use a friend. Clearing the air up front that he isn’t gay helps Charlie to relax, allowing for the cautious beginning of a friendship. Two men, both alone, for different reasons. What happens when friendship bears more? When support and affection turns into attraction? Do you take the chance of a lifetime, for the love a lifetime?

This has a strong hurt and comfort theme. Gregory meets and befriends Charlie, a man terribly hurt, both physically and emotionally.

Gregory finds himself with feelings towards Charlie that he has never felt before. "It's like something that was missing has finally clicked, but I never knew it was missing to begin with because I've never been in this situation." He has always considered himself straight. It takes one of his friends to give him the push needed to explore these feelings.

"Maybe the package happiness comes in wouldn't be such a controversy if more people honestly cherished the happiness to begin with."

Charlie also has to battle his demons, to work out a way to put the past behind him so that he can move on.

I enjoyed the way both characters were portrayed, their vulnerability and the struggles they faced.

Favourite line is from Charlie's sister: "It's time you acted like the man that dick you were born with proves you to be."

The Charlie Factor Diana DeRicci 9781612920467 Books Reviews

i just finished this book 20 minutes ago. i loved it. i know ill be reading it again. what i loved most about the plot was it was more focused on thier relationship than most manlove stories, and ive read alot of them. <3
I wanted to like it. I did like a part of it. I'm not really sure what happened with this book. It's as if the writer lost interest half way through. Either that, or she was in a rush to finish it. Either way, the end result was the book with a luke warm beginning, a solid first sex scene and then just a mess of emotions that appeared to be carelessly scattered about with no sense or reason.
I enjoyed the story very much, and I gave it 5 stars, but this is five stars for the genre. It is predictable but the characters are whole and interesting and the interaction sweet and compelling and you just root for them. It's just enjoyable.
I am torn between liking this and loving this. It was a fantastic love story and I'm so glad the author took the time to really put true emotion in this book. I think most people will really enjoy this read.
I really enjoyed this story. I think that most of us can relate to Charlie, whether the scars are on the inside or the outside. Most of us have the advantage that they are hidden from view, but not Charlie. I loved the way the puppy introduced myself, and could feel Charlie's anxiety when Gregory came over to retrieve him. I found the bath scene a bit cliche, and the ending too abrupt, but overall, this is a satisfying read.
Another exciting read from this author. I tend to love the unrealistic Gay For You trope reads. This one seems to try to make more sense of the trope than most. Both Charlie and Greg are the masculine-type men, that make this hot read flammable. LOTS of sex, but isn't that what makes people fall in love? It's the chemistry, and these two have lots of chemistry. I'm going for a glass of wine and a cigarette now.
So, I had this book on ice for a while. I knew I wanted to read it from the sample, but I decided to wait. Wow! Let me say "Wow!" again. A truly beautiful book, I felt this one touched so many places in my soul. I really felt for Charlie. His fear to move on was written realistically and was in no way "over-the-top". Greg's discovery of himself greatly complimented Charlie and seemed so very authentic, his need to love evident and inspiring. The sex scenes? Oh my! Different! I am certain if I looked in the mirror while I read my lips would have formed the letter "o" so much, I would appear a fish breathing underwater. Sizzle!

With so many authors out there, it is wonderful to find one who writes with as much realism, feeling and depth as De Ricci has. I look forward to reading more of her books and will most definitely add her to my list of favorites.

Take a moment and share their story. You will not be disappointed.
